We offer free medical support,

...which destitute people would not be able to afford otherwise.

Many people in India, and especially those living in rural locations in the poor regions of Odisha, cannot afford medical care. Poor and destitute people can receive free medical care at the HCHC Health Centres (Hariharananda Charitable Health Centres) created by Prajnana Mission with the support of “Hand in Hand”, in 1999.

Three of our Health Centres have been working for years now in the poor districts of Odisha and West Bengal: in Balighai, Jagatpur/Cuttack and in Bhishindipur (West Bengal). We also run Village Health Projects, such as in Athagarh and in Arua on the Balashram Residential School´s premises.

A new Health Centre has been put into operation to complement the over stretched HCHC in Jagatpur. In 2014, a new, multi-storey building was constructed equipped with X-Ray, ECG, as well as Ultra Sound apparatus. The centre comprises a pharmacy, several laboratories and five consulting rooms where dental, surgical and ophthalmological treatments are offered.

Doctors on wheels

“Doctors on wheels” bring free medical care to remote villages. These mobile doctors’ surgeries, which are financed by “Hand in Hand”, take general practitioners and dentists to the patients and treat them locally, on-site. The ambulances are also used to take critically ill patients to the nearest hospital.
The mobile “Health Camps” provide a range of services: assistance in city slums; the vaccination of children in state schools; provision of guidelines on hygiene and general health care; organisation of awareness-raising events in slums and rural areas, on Diabetes, Tobacco risks, Aids, Hygiene and Health.
